The Lauber Dezs\u0151 Sports Hall is one of the central hubs of P\u00e9cs\u2019s sports scene, as it is home to the most successful women\u2019s basketball team outside of the capital\u2014P\u00e9cs 2010, competing in the Hungarian women\u2019s top league. In addition to the ladies, top league men\u2019s basketball team PVSK-Pannonpower and NB I handball team TM-Line-PTE-PVSE also hold their home games in the sports hall of P\u00e9cs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Besides sports, the building also hosts other large-scale events. Famous Hungarian musicians such as Neoton, Republic, Ferenc Demj\u00e9n or \u00c1kos have performed in the hall, as well as several talent show participants. Moreover, Lama Ole Nydahl also spoke here in 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In front of the hall stands a statue called \u201cBasketball player woman\u201d, erected in 2004 in memory of Judit Horv\u00e1th, who was selected into the national team sixty-seven times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
P\u00e9cs had a smaller sports hall since 1873, but the idea of a new establishment came about as early as the 1960s. Finally, the new building was opened in 1976, and the hall got its new name in 1997.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
