The P\u00e9cs Railwaymen’s Wind Orchestra was founded in 1945 under the direction of J\u00e1nos Bali, the founding conductor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Railway Wind Orchestra P\u00e9cs developed from this ensemble in 1983, its founding conductor and artistic director being K\u00e1roly Neumayer, conductor of a wind orchestra. From him, Zolt\u00e1n B\u00f3kai, conductor of the P\u00e9cs National Theatre, took over the artistic direction of the ensemble in March 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Railway Wind Orchestra P\u00e9cs has been an active participant in the amateur wind music scene in Hungary thanks to its achievements to date. The members of the orchestra are all excellent musicians who are dedicated performers of concert quality wind music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ensemble is a member of the Hungarian and Central and Eastern European Association of Wind Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) and of the Hungarian Wind and Brass Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The orchestra is maintained by the VOKE (National Cultural and Recreational Association of Railwaymen) Railwaymen’s Cultural Centre in P\u00e9cs (director: P\u00e9ter Szentgygy\u00f6rgyv\u00e1ry)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
