{"id":63604,"date":"2021-08-11T13:30:15","date_gmt":"2021-08-11T11:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pecs.hu\/?p=63604"},"modified":"2025-07-09T08:16:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T06:16:12","slug":"irem-kertje","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pecs.hu\/en\/irem-kertje\/","title":{"rendered":"Irem kertje"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the heart of the city centre, at 12 Sz\u00e9chenyi Square, right next to Janus Pannonius Museum Visitor Centre, Irem kertje (Irem&#8217;s Garden) has opened. The Turkish Evliya \u00c7elebi is considered the greatest traveller in world history, having travelled the world for some 50 years and recorded what he saw. His travel writings amount to 10 volumes. He also conscientiously put his adventures in Hungary on paper, so much so that after his visit to P\u00e9cs in 1663, he wrote a very detailed description of the city, which runs to tens of pages. He called the &#8216;heart-stealing P\u00e9cs&#8217; Irem&#8217;s Garden, or Garden of Paradise. Its influence is reflected in design and gastronomy.
