Why Kossuth? There are two reasons for this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. P\u00e9cs\u2019s main street, where our restaurant is located at number 35, has had 21 different names over the years. Between 1930 and 1991, part of the street (the outer section at first) then all of it bore the name Kossuth. This period was pivotal in shaping the city\u2019s dining culture as we know it today. Not due to military orders or propaganda newspaper slogans from that time, but rather because of what was on the plates of families\u2019 during a Sunday dinner. This was a time when the traditional culinary culture, dishes, and customs of the Carpathian Basin and the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy were still present, while also feeling the influence of modernity, with all its advantages and disadvantages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. If we take Lajos Kossuth off the dusty pages of history books, we find an incredibly interesting and complex person: someone who was proud of his roots and culture, yet blessed with an endless desire for freedom, and who was always searching for quality, growth, and progress. This is our goal as well: to prepare our favorite dishes from our shared cultural heritage (Central European comfort food) as best as we can. There\u2019s no reimagining, no pretentiousness, and no magic tricks \u2013 just a fanatic dedication to quality and a somewhat quirky desire to bring some underestimated dishes back to the spotlight simply by preparing them really well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
