If the previous three stages have left something to be desired, the real Tour de France vibe in P\u00e9cs will make any viewer satisfied. The three fan zones (Sz\u00e9chenyi square, University of P\u00e9cs – Faculty of Medicine and another one near the finish line of B\u00e1r\u00e1ny Street) will provide you with the joy of cheering for the peloton as a real community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be prepared for an energy blast, nothing can be compared to this experience. A kind reminder of how emotions got high in the race of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most difficult stage of Tour de Hongrie 2026 will take place on May 16. After the start in Moh\u00e1cs, the peloton will turn towards the Vill\u00e1ny Mountains, a region rarely visited by the Tour de Hongrie. After the Vill\u00e1ny-Hark\u00e1ny-Sikl\u00f3s loop, the riders will arrive in P\u00e9cs, where they will have to tackle the dreaded B\u00e1r\u00e1ny Road climb four times before reaching the finish line in front of the Zoo. The 188 km long stage, with an elevation gain of more than 2000 meters, will be crucial for the overall victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moh\u00e1cs will mark a historic anniversary in 2026: exactly 500 years ago, one of the most important battles in Hungarian history, the Battle of Moh\u00e1cs, took place here. Alongside Gyula and Szarvas, the city is the third location in this year’s race that has never hosted Tour de Hongrie before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

P\u00e9cs will be the most experienced host of the Hungarian Tour in 2026: this will be the 14th finish at the foot of the Mecsek Mountains, which has previously hosted 8 starts as well. The 5 km long Lapis climb, including the nearly 2 km long B\u00e1r\u00e1ny Road with an 11% gradient, is the most difficult mountain on the route. The city circuit also rewards aggressive riders twice: they can collect bonus seconds in two Intermediate Sprints on Sz\u00e9chenyi Square. The county seat of Baranya has hosted two mountain-top finishes so far: Marc Hirschi triumphed in front of the Zoo in 2023, followed by Wout Poels a year later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the frames of the race the city hosts many programs during the day including the Zsolnay Cup (a race for amateurs and licenced cyclists), a bike festival, live broadcast spot on huge LED screens in the city centre and so much more.
