In the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the Rusyns were the second-largest minority in the country after the Roma. Following the upheavals of history, only a few remain, but they hold fast to their customs and traditions all the more. They have also preserved their wonderful Slavic language, their exceptionally beautiful folk songs, their traditional dress and their dances.
