Traffic development

The Municipality of Pécs regards the expansion and development of the city’s transport options as a key priority. During the 2014–2020 funding period, the Municipality of Pécs won a number of tenders for the development of roads and cycle paths through the Regional Development Operational Programme (TOP) provided by Széchenyi 2020; these projects have enabled the improvement of connections between different parts of the city, as well as the renovation – and in some cases the construction – of road sections across the city that increase road capacity and stimulate the economy.

In the spirit of climate change mitigation, the city also successfully applied for funding to renovate and develop cycle paths and associated facilities that encourage cycling and public transport, as well as to procure electric city buses.
