Polish Local Authority in Pécs

The Polish Local Government of Pécs has been in continuous operation since its establishment in 1998. In 1995, Poles living in Pécs and Baranya County set up a civil cultural association known as the ‘Polish Club’. The Polish Minority Self-Government of Pécs (now the Polish Local Government of Pécs) was formed from the club’s members and gradually took over the club’s responsibilities. Its main objectives include strengthening the sense of community amongst Poles in and around Pécs, fostering Polish identity, Polish cultural values and traditions, and teaching the Polish language.
