Doronicum is an endemic species to Mecsek. It grows only here.
The term endemic or native refers to plant or animal species that naturally appear within a restricted geographical area. The rarest endemic species are most interesting, as they are native to a single country or a region of a country or sometimes to a small area of a few square kilometres. Doronicum of Pécs is a rhizomatous plant, 60-80 cm tall, with one or two capitula of bright yellow flowers on a stem. It is in blossom from April to May.
