Piano concert inspired by Csontváry's art

This program enhances the experience of visual art with a musical perspective.

The concert is a subjective selection and a tribute to the great artists and masterpieces that have enriched the world with their paintings and music. The pieces have been carefully chosen by pianist Elaine Shuo Yu to evoke the distinctive atmosphere of Csontváry’s paintings on display in Pécs.

One of Pécs’ greatest prides is hosting this extraordinary Csontváry collection as a permanent exhibition. Through this event, the festive spirit of the Christmas season can linger a little longer, enriched by an additional experience: a musical interpretation that complements the visual art.

Elaine first visited Hungary to participate in the Liszt Ferenc International Piano Competition, where she achieved the best result among Asian participants. This remarkable experience sparked her love for Hungary, which she later returned to for an English-language masterclass. Today, she lives near Pécs, spending her days surrounded by museum exhibitions, paintings, and the natural beauty of the region—all of which are reflected in her heartfelt performances.
During the concert, you will also discover the connections and inspirations behind the selected pieces: how the music intertwines with the artwork, and why these particular composers resonate with the unique themes of the exhibition.

☝️ We recommend arriving early to take time to explore the paintings. Let their inspiring atmosphere enhance your appreciation of the concert.
