Confessions

“Oh you men who think or say that I am malevolent, stubborn or misanthropic, how greatly do you wrong me.” – wrote the 32-year-old Beethoven in his Heiligenstadt Testament.

Despite his tragic fate, all his life he would try hard to express that he was full of love and joy of life. His Violin Concerto is a marvellous example of this. Tchaikovsky’s Symphony “Pathétique” is the Russian master’s final work. If we pay close attention, we might read the heartbreaking farewell letter of a man preparing to die. We can hear two profound men’s confessions this evening.
