In the Web of Passion

What can turn into a passion? This evening, forbidden love, reminiscences of the past, searching the future, romantic imagination, and even steam trains will come into play.

Romeo and Juliet’s story has inspired many, regardless of time and space. Tchaikovsky’s music is one of the most tangible presentations of love surpassing and surviving even death, even without words. The Swiss Frank Martin’s concerto written in 1949 is simultaneously a retrospection of Bach and a contemplation of modernity with capricious virtuosity. Dvořák’s symphony, written as last on Czech soil, could be titled “From the Old World”. It is full of memories, emotions, tales, cities, people, melancholy, passion and delight.
