The Ensemble has been active since it was established in 1955. The group has always been devoted to preserving and promoting the Hungarian cultural heritage. Their rich repertoire includes the folk dance and folk music traditions of the Carpathian Basin. They have been awarded a certificate of “Excellent Ensemble” and “Gold diploma” ten times for their work, and they have won over 40 prizes at national folk festivals. They have been involved in youth education in collaboration with Pécs Cultural Centre Berze Nagy János Elementary Art Educational Institute to teach folk dance to children. They have had about 70 guest performances in different countries, for example, in Europe, in the Middle- and Far East, as well as in North America. The Ensemble was an ambassador of the Pécs European Cultural Capital Programme in 2010.
