The House of Arts and Literature in Pécs was built in the late 1980s during the reconstruction of the so-called Elephant House. The ground floor of the buildings was given over to shops, while on the upper floor the interiors of the former apartments were converted to provide space for a new institution, the House of Arts and Literature. The building’s halls, library and rooftop gallery are used for literary and theatre events, chamber and jazz concerts, conferences and exhibitions.
