The Romanian Local Council of Pécs was established as a new ethnic minority local council following the 2019 elections. The council aims to assist members of the Romanian community living in and around Pécs in preserving their ethnic identity, but is also open to other nationalities and is keen to showcase its national character and unique traditions. They cooperate closely with Romanian self-governments in other towns, as maintaining these links is of great importance for preserving traditions and national identity.
