Rusyn Local Council of Pécs

The Rusyn Ethnic Self-Government of Pécs was established in 2002 and has been active ever since. In the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the Rusyns were the second-largest minority in the country after the Roma. Following the upheavals of history, only a few remain, but they hold fast to their customs and traditions all the more. They have also preserved their wonderful Slavic language, their exceptionally beautiful folk songs, their traditional dress and their dances. The PRNÖ (Rusyn Ethnic Self-Government of Pécs) offers a rich programme of events for all age groups, not only for Rusyns but also for other ethnic groups living in Pécs and the city’s residents.
