Saint Peter and Saint Paul Cathedral in Pécs is the cathedral of the Diocese of Pécs, and one of the most beautiful attractions of the city. Laid on Medieval foundations, the building took its present astonishing form at the end of the 19th century.
The four-tower Saint Peter Basilica is an emblematic building of Pécs. The Basilica is characterized by the simple style of the Romanesque Revival. The choir has an Angster organ of 6101 pipes, and in the side-chapel paintings by Bertalan Székely and Károly Lotz are displayed.
The cathedral is an impressive photo spot, but you should really enter and see it from the inside too. You can ask for guided tours and activities of museum education during your visit, or enjoy live organ playing that is available upon prior request.
The Cathedral of Pécs is located in the heart of the old city, in Dóm tér. It is easiest to get there on foot because there are no parking options near the cathedral.
